Adult Education Classes in Community Schools

The Office of Adult Education (OAE), in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office of Education, is partnering with community agencies – including Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) – to provide adult education classes in each of the 12 community schools of the School District of Philadelphia. Classes include Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE) and English as a Second Language (ESL). As part of this partnership, LSH will be offering classes at the following schools:

  • William Cramp Elementary School (3449 N. Mascher Street)
    • ABE/ASE – Tuesday/Thursday 5:30-8:00 pm
    • ESL Classes – Monday/Wednesday 5:30-8:00 pm
  • Kensington Health Sciences Academy (2463 Emerald Street)
    • ABE/ASE Classes – Monday/Wednesday 5:30-8:00 pm

Classes are free and open to the community


To enroll, you must:

1. Call (215) 426-8610 x 2006 to schedule an intake appointment. Intake sessions are scheduled for the following dates (if you can’t make any of the times listed below, we can make other arrangements).

2. Come to your intake appointment to fill out registration paperwork and take an assessment test (2 to 2.5 hours total)

3. Start your class the week of September 16th
